SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, that is is intended to confirm whether an e-mail message was sent by an authorized server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will stop the forging of emails created with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain name generates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send e-mail messages from mail boxes using the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it will exist on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Any time an e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses tests whether it comes from an authorized server. When it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, however when it doesn't come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody can mask an email address and make it appear as if you are e-mailing spam. This method is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a couple of clicks. The option is accessible in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down menu and to type in the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be authorized to send emails from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the emails to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, i.e. if our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This solution will provide you with the best degree of security, but it's not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain name are managed in a different place. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection attribute is featured with all the semi-dedicated servers, so when you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you'll be able to use this particular service effortlessly for all of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a very easy to work with interface, so you don't need to be tech-savvy to protected your emails. You'll only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be certified to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be active for the domain name that you have picked. As an extra option, we also allow you to control the outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes even better by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain in question has our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name have to be taken care of on our end and not by another supplier. In this way you'll get even better control and there won't be any chance for anybody to fake your e-mail addresses for malicious intentions.
